PB,

Re: The whole point of an electronic voting system is that the votes, while secret on an individual basis, have total transparency.

The fact that the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the software for these tabulation devices is "proprietary" and therefore not subject to FOIA disclosures is prima facie evidence of the lack of transparency.

Re: Maybe even a third USA party?

Some are speculating that Ralph Nader is a agent provocateur for the right wing. He's on very friendly terms with Grover Norquist, for instance. And it is clear that Nader's votes in Florida and Vermont were among the deciding factors in defeating Al Gore. Further proof that the naive Green Party members may unwittingly be dupes is the candidacy of Ed DeGaa in the Minnesota senatorial campaign last November. Paul Wellstone, the most progressive member of the Senate was being hectored by the Green Party in a display of total stupidity by Green voters and probable total duplicity by DeGaa and those who foisted his candidacy on the public.
