I hear Washington is 'punishing' Chile by postponing the signing of the recently-concluded Free Trade Pact (because we don't like the way they voted in the UN on a totally separate issue: the second proposed Iraq resolution in the Security Council). No word on how long signing will be delayed. What a fine idea! Spiking the beneficial economic effects of free trade with one of the best free market exponents in all of South America (they even have a totally privatized Social Security System)... in a fit of anger. Guess economic recovery and Free Trade aren't exactly at the top of the agenda with this gang....
