KJC, Today is a slow and sunny day. A lovely day. I took the opportunity after lunch to dropped in on the Chinese medicine pharmacy of the Queen Mary's Hospital.

The out-of-the-way pharmacy is located in the quiet nursing school dormatory of the hospital, all by itself, away from the bustle of the main hospital complex, surrounded by some lush shrubs and shady trees.

I waited awhile for my prescribed potion of someofthis and alittleofthat to be readied by manual labour.

Dry roots, crumply leaves, a few twigs, blades of grass, and whatever else that can be grabbed from hundreds of quaint-looking drawers in a wall-covering cabinet..

The 6 bags of somethingorother potion mix will strengthen my lung function and build defense against ... (drum roll) ... SARS. One month's worth of preparation cost USD 38, plus USD 19 for personal consultation.

I think Chinese medicine work their magic because they taste awful and smell worse.

Chugs, Jay
