It wasn't stated from the WH as a theory, but as "fact". You say blame Bush's advisors. Well Chimp is a leader, the one who calls the shots and takes responsibility for his actions. He has to check his sources and verify them. The other more probable theory I have is that he didn't care either way (re. WMDs) and wanted a trumped up case for war against Iraq. He wanted to demonize Saddam and get public support for war. We all know there are alterior motives for this war (1) Bolstering his sagging popularity in the polls by showing he's a "man of action" in the War on Terrorism (although this has nothing to do with the war) (2) Revenge for his Daddy (3) securing more American control of the middle east (4) Oil (5) Ideology in stomping out evil socialism and state control of the economy.

Chimp is finally admitting in public that WMDs probably don't exist, although he "knows" that Saddam once had them. Well we all know that he had them once - the US (Cheney, Baker & Rummy) sold them to him. But the UN inspection process found them and destroyed them. Chimp refuses to come clean and admit in public that the inspection process worked. He owes Hans Blix an apology. I don't count on that ideologue Bully to do anything of the sort.
