As Russell says, similar effects are showing up all over.

I'm in Seattle. Restaurants are lowering prices, how often does that happen? You can walk up to any restaurant virtually anytime and get a table. Places that offer cheap, good food seem to be doing well. I routinely ask people "how's business" throughout the day, everyday. No one says good. Slow or bad, is the typical answer.

The refi boom is dropping way off. Spending is slowing. Homes are sitting on the market much longer, and sell only after lowering the price a few times.

If you have cash, it is going to be a good time to get deals.
