I am sure you noted that discuss was in quotations. I have mixed opinions about the First Amendment. Not that I do not have faith in it; quite to the contrary, I strongly believe in it. But it does create a problem when a responsible media is lacking. I don't want limitations on freedom of speech. And that means I do not want this freedom to be squashed by massive biased reporting or boycott either.

I am not sure what the solution is. But the fact remains that the media could tear him apart and get away with it if he is found innocent. This would be the opposite of what freedom of speech was meant to accomplish; instead of encouraging people to speak their mind, such a situation could convince the next person to keep his mouth shot and never voice unpopular opinions.

What do you think would be a good solution? Or do you think it is perfect as is?
