Marion - Your obsession is taking you all over the place. Look at the title of this thread. You obviously have a thing with Israel. I don't care if you are a practicing or non-practicing Breatherian (a real historical bunch of religious nuts, you can look it up.) On a message board, it's words and thoughts that count not your religious background. I would defend Israel's right to exist as an American and I do. Every opinion poll since Israel's birth has supported Israel's right to exist irrespective of who is in the White House, which party is in Congress or what is happening in the rest of the world. That's the way it has been and that's the way it will continue. Why? Largely because of the holocaust and American view of our role in WWII, but also because Israel is the only real democracy in the Mideast. I'm not going to defend Israel's government or US government and there is much I would change on both ends. The bottom line is that comparing Israel and, on the other hand, Syria and Egypt is really apples and oranges. The French are irrelevant and most Americans agree.
