And even Abu Mazen has his heart set on a "right of return" which would probably make a peace deal impossible.

I think the "right of return" is going to be negotiated away. This is a show-stopper for the Israelis unless the Palestinians who return are willing to declare loyalty to Israel in exchange for Citizenship.

Or the Israelis will demand that Jewish settlers be permitted to own property on the West Bank and Gaza...

Either way, it strikes me that the goal of achieving a Palestinian state will likely take precedence, sweetened with the possibility of substantial economic assistance.

And with all the stars coming into "alignment" for a peace treaty that could potentially beckon in decades of economic stability and growth in the region, I think the pressure upon the Palestinians will be great to take the best deal they can.

I think many countries in the region will find themselves getting sick of the political stagnation and demand progress, from both sides.
