DEBT IS ENSLAVEMENT

Hi Nicholas,

Re: It is strange that PREZ B. wants to run up the deficit even further.

I nonconcur. It is not strange at all, if you look at the balance sheet of the nation. Basically what Bush is doing is to engage in vast and unfair wealth transfer from the middle class to the corporate elite. In this, he's serving those that "brung him to the dance", to use the old Texas expression. Bush is rewarding those whose bribes put him in office. And he's rewarding them handsomely.

Another way to look at this, and one that really raised a lot of hackles when I specifically predicted the return of vast deficits in October, 2000 on the President GWB thread, debt is enslavement. The idea is to take the long suffering middle class in America (which currently has to work 170 hours per year more than it did per capita in 1970 to maintain their lifestyles) and further erode their position in society while a wealthy elite of economic parasites continue to expand their advantage in the class war they are waging on the American public.

Arianna Huffington has written quite intelligently about this in her new book, "Pigs at the Trough", which is referenced in this week's Fortune Magazine:

Scroll down to "CEO Pensions: The Latest Way to Hide Millions" to see that even a stalwart of American business like Fortune sees the basic unfairness and vile nature of the CEO's greed.

BERMUDA PROJECT --

Arianna has also been a key initiator in an expose of the completely unpatriotic and greedy devices being employed by the likes of Halliburton, Arthur Andersen's Accenture, Ingersoll-Rand and other government contractors to shirk their fair share of the costs of the George Bush's most excellent Iraqi adventure:

The corporados are stealing $70 Billion annually from the U.S. Treasury. It is an national scandal and disgrace.
