How/why do you give autonomy to a group that is committed to your destruction? For years Arafat walked around with a patch on his sleeve that depicted a Palestinian state sans Israel. Israel's destruction has been a long time preoccupation of the PA and much of the Arab world. The PA leadership needs to be interested in nation building instead of the reverse before any headway is possible,imo.
