That's a very interesting opinion. I would have said it was simply because we have no interests there, but your point about keeping people a little scared, as opposed to overwhelming them with horror is a good one. If you read enough about Africa, the enormity of the continents problems would have you reaching for more than a beer, if you were inclined to drink alcohol. Not being a drinker, I can safely read about the problems in Africa, but I understand that substance abuse is a huge problem in American- perhaps it would not be safe to broadcast the problems of Africa here. :-)
