I happened to watch a couple of stock market shows on Fox News this morning, because one of my favorite chart guys, Gary Smith was on. But I thought I was going to puke after the first 2 minutes. Both shows featured flag-waving bimbos and gratuitous hyper-patriotic terms and phrases at every turn. As a long time media person, I think I have figured out why Fox is doing so well in the ratings: They have successfully dumbed it down so hardly any viewers feel insecure. Any moron, dumb as a post, can watch Fox and feel intellectually superior. Unfortunately we do know that TV news is primarily for those folks who do not read well. Fox is simply going "over the top" with this concept, and it's working for them ratings-wise. There is no way they could be considered a credible news medium, by anyone with any education at all.
