Probably that is it.

There is a void inside of him.

A hole.

Some how the arguing helps him to distract himself from it.

I should know. I got one too.
But arguing doesn't always do it for me.
I've got a whole list of distractions, though.

Someday I'll fill that hole and won't need the distractions.

Until then you'll still see me here goofing off or mixing
it up with him on occasions when my other distractions
aren't working.
