DJ, Where are we? Anybody on the thread, where are we on the financial seascape?

My map covers only so much of the blankness beyond my cozily gentle tropical home port. My compass has been of no use for sometime. I have been sailing into the horizon for some time now, and may be lost. I am nowhere near wealth Bora Bora in net asset Tahiti.

Three days ago I thought I saw economic icebergs, and a market bear devouring a bloody mess that was a financial penguin. I am either very north or extremely south of where I ought to be.

I am inclined to stop moving into the great unknown, but it is too late for that, for I must get to the next port, and in the mean nasty time, survive on whatever sliver of capital gains, wedge of dividends, slice of option premium, and flake of interest income that come my way.

A summary of the problems regarding progress towards intended destination:

(a) Genuine risk-free rate of return of money in the bank and in short bonds is precisely ZeroDotZero or less;
(b) Inflation is high;
(c) Stagnation is here;
(d) Long bonds will decline;
(e) Stocks will fall, rise, fall, and fall again;
(f) Real estate will blowup;
(g) Consumers will be blown up twice or three times, by unemployment, housing collapse, and whatever else we do not know about;
(h) Currencies, including the one gold cash that rules over all monies, will grind, churn, shatter, hurt, disappoint, perhaps, maybe, and possibly;
(i) Commodities, including the one gold bullion that rules over all commodities, may rise in the long term, but then again, may not in the short term, due to dropping demand, collapsing wall of worry and sliding slope of hope; and
(j) QCOM is falling and will fall more, much more.

Making matters more interesting still. The consulting part of my business was pretty much a ephemeral state of mind in 3D space to begin with, and now, more so, and in cyber space. I am now more or less forced to conduct business by mass e-mail and conference call telephone, moving only between home and office, far away from airports and hotels, dependent on MS Office and OpenOffice applications.

Do not get me started on the masks, goggles, and the constant hand washing.

To add hot pepper to the apple pie, hordes of people and aggregations of faiths are not cooperating, adding to the world’s burdens, and in turn, threatening my wealth bundle.

I mean, where do the Shii’t Moslem Iraqis get off believing that they could be trusted to run a democratic theocracy for the Sunni people by the Shii’t people, and where do they get on in supposing that they have religious freedom to such an extent that they be allowed to choose to form a faith-backed government managing one country under one god?

They think they can form an alliance with Iran or what?

Or did I mean to say where do the atheist N.Koreans get the idea that a nuke possession equals the right to maintain possession? Message 18887198

Maybe I meant that where do the Hindu Indians figure they are coming from and going with cozying up to the Confucius Chinese. For what reasons impel them to move closer to their “#1 enemy”, to quote their defense minister who will visit Beijing in that city’s hour, day, month, year or decade of need. Message 18881368

Or possibly I meant where do the Catholic French get the idea that freedom of global speech and planet-wide expression of electorates wish extended to them who only work 35-hours a week, and drink wine like water? And why did they issue an invite to the Confucius Chinese, 9th on the list, to a party meant for 8? Message 18887336

What do I know, I am just another lost captain of a becalmed boat in uncharted waters, looking at market bears devouring financial penguins.

If I didn't know better, I would have said whereas I thought events were screwed up and messy before, now we are really in trouble;0)

So, help, any one? Even Maurice, in his QCOM boat that is filling up with water;0)

Chugs, Jay

BTW, Maurice, I did this trade Message 18883524 which took advantage of possibly temporarily tanking QCOM, and now I am strickly long the share and short the put, for a financial death-defying (actually, more like toe pricking) journey in to flim-flam photonic whatever spin-state Q-space.

Did I forget to mention to you recently that I think you are in serious trouble;0)
