Hi WS...

I'm not an expert on digital cameras...I do own one, a Fuji FinePix 2600Z. It's a low middle of the road Dig camera. I like it. That particular model has been replaced by newer models.

As far as recommendations...it depends on what you want to use your camera for...how much you want to spend...etc.

A couple of basics...you'll want to get a battery charger and some rechargeable batteries....pay little or no attention to digital zoom...optical zoom is the only zoom number to consider...3X (optical zoom)at a minimum.

You probably would want at least 2 Megapixels at a minimum for general snapshot type use.

Sunday is a good day to check the newspaper ads..bestbuy...compusa...officemax...office depot...staples. One or the other will usually have a deal on a digital camera.

Before you buy anything check the following sites and read the info..reviews and user forums.

dpreview.com

steves-digicams.com

dcresource.com

dcviews.com

If you do find a camera that you think you might like to buy go to amazon.com and check the user comments about that particular make and model.
