I didn't see the China spy plane incident as a major crisis.

Perspectives on these things are relative. Today, it certainly wouldn't qualify as a "crisis", let alone a "major crisis". However, at the time, it was considered (at least by the media) as a "crisis" -- but not a major crisis like we're facing with NK or like the one we're dealing with in Iraq.
