Brice,

>And Mike A. who cares about '97 deployment #'s anyway???<

If you don't care about '97 deployment #'s, how do you feel about '98 #'s being under 50,000 lines for the entire U.S.?

Rollouts with large #'s have to happen before we see any xDSL company significantly appreciate. The money has to go to the bottom line, unless you're just buying into futures. Many people here have made predictions about huge rollouts and deployment numbers for '97 and '98. That indicates we have significant upside in a relatively short window of time. I believe it will happen, however my window is longer than most here. The proof is in the pudding. When most people on this thread say they can order an ADSL line from their local telco than we will have arrived...or can even say when they can *expect* to be able to order one because the local telco has purchased the equipment and will deploy it. I understand xDSL stocks will appreciate as deployment happens. But 50,000 lines or less for all the U.S in '98 does not thrill me. Gee, what about those same predictors who said by this time we would have thousands rolled out. Do you see any? I would be happy to have anyone here prove me wrong. We will all find out in time.

I don't know about you, but I bought a lot of AMTX stock at 18 a share originally. So 13+ does not mean much to me right now. Wasn't AMTX around 15 at Supercomm time in Late May/Early June? I'll be jumping for joy when I see AMTX pass my original 18 mark. How long till that happens? And for the record I have never shorted any company. I am long AMTX with lots and lots of call options.

I'll say the same thing for WSTL...original purchase price in the 30's and 40's. I'm not being down on AMTX...I am a realist on the entire xDSL market. We have seen a taste of the future today. My concern is how long it takes the "real thing" to get here.

Mike
