Neither. I was asked to sign up as a founding member of the California Green Party in the mid-1980's, and did so. I thought that the Democratic Party was no longer representing the progressive and humane policies that FDR initiated (and was labeled 'a traitor to his class' for), and that the Great Society intended to further. And then Bill Clinton and the DLC came along and conclusively proved that the two-party system in America is a sham. Merely the two right wings of the Corporate Party being represented by the near right prostitutes of the Democratic Party and corporate whores of the GHP, that being the Gross Hypocrisy Party.

Currently, I'm registered as an independent. But I'll probably either move to Canada (wink) or register Dem for the next election, should the Party come to its senses and nominate a true patriot like Howard Dean.
As far as socialism is concerned, I've always had a healthy respect for the vulgarity of the McCarthyite/John Birch Society/Fox News attacks that we are witnessing today. Why paint a target on one's forehead, eh?

Well, duh? Isn't that who you'd expect the CIA to try to pin it on, once the farce of the Warren Commission became unsalable? Kennedy wasn't cooperating with the brass hats on Cuba. They wanted to invade, Kennedy didn't. I don't know if you're familiar with this gem of scheme:
