Had an interesting evening, Karen. I walked down Kalakaua to Coconut Willies, and came upon a pathetic "Parade" of anti-war protesters shambling the other way. Must have been about 100 of them, chanting , "Get out of the Middle East!" The guys were the type of losers you would expect, but the women surprised me. Normally, these type of events turn out some pretty hot chicks, but not this group. A bunch of frumps. As they went by, I could not restrain myself, and I started booing them. By the time I got the third "Boo" out, about 20 people around me joined in. The marchers were startled, then waved, and picked up their pace as they scurried along the street toward the park.
When I got to Willies, it was crowded with Sailors off the "Abe", the "USS Abraham Lincoln" that made port in Pearl Harbor today. I thanked a group of them for what they had done in the Gulf, and they told me they were an Ordnance gang that loaded the bombs on the planes. They were in off a ten month deployment, the longest for a carrier since Vietnam. |
