the key issue now seems to be the likelihood of a fundamentalist state...i don't know if anyone around here thought of that as a possibility but even if americans lose sight of what happened with the WMD's, they should be able to recall what happened the last time we had an entanglement with a fundamentalist state over in the mid-east 60 minutes had a piece on it (actually, a profile of the Ayatollah who would likely lead an iraq fundamentalist state) either before the war or at the very early stages so I assume somebody in the WH was aware of this possibility. That was one thing I always appreciated about iraq prior to this war and our disagreements with SH. Women appeared to be much better off in iraq, even under SH, than women in other countries in the region. All those "honor killings" and other fundamentalist terror practices happen in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere. Of course we just let that go by, as if Iraq had the worst human rights in the region, I'm not sure if thats true if you include women.
