Because Bush, in speech after speech, never hesitated to talk about 9/11 and Iraq in the same sentence in the same speech over and over and over again -- and so people believed him -- they believed there must be a link because he keeps talking about them in the same breath. The White House tried everything to imply a link -- fake stories about meetings -- the whole nine yards. All discredited. How about Powell quoting US intelligence from top secret British reports that turrned out to be a ten year old masters research paper by an Iraqi exile with no special access to intelligence, ten year old "information" and an axe to grind. Or how about the blatantly falsified documents "proving" that SH had tried to by uranium. Give me a break. Now we wait to see all the WMD that we have been "assured" are there. The ones that the Blix team tried so hard not to find -- according to the White House.
