Suppose you look to Earth's pole from space. Over time you would see that axis wobbles and draws a number 8 shape. It is this movement that starts and ends glaciations.

This is the big thing. But in the interim period, the Sun, volcanic eruptions and other phenomena distorts the temperature pattern.

Now if you look to the curve of temperature, you see an up tick. We are now alive during this up tick that why we are seeing it raising.

Perhaps there have been an even bigger up tick, the one that make the masthodons with belly full of grass found in Siberia deep forzen.
