The SARS/market correlation no longer has much to do with the nature of the disease itself but rather of the reaction among the public and governments. There are regional economies which are shutting down hard here and that is the risk to the economy.

The disease, while serious, is just not fatal enough for it to be comparable to 1918......yet.

(of course we could be in the very early stages of a much larger problem, but that evidence is not in as of yet).
