But the Christian meaning of "blood of the lamb" is completely different from the animal sacrifice of the Temple. The animal sacrifices were offerings of the herd, just as the offerings of wheat and fruit were offerings of the field. In Christianity, the lamb was Christ, who offered his own blood, then was resurrected. You need to look at Greek and Egyptian myths to find parallels for the hero-who-dies-then-is-resurrected myths.
