If you read the annual reports, you will find that they have never made any payments on the individual lawsuits. The Master Settlement is over the next 25 years and is partially dependant on smoking levels. If all Americans quit smoking tomorrow, payments to the States would fall significantly. It was interesting to note how the other states have become hooked on the Tobacco money. Why were they so willing to defend MO against the state of Illinois?
