Len, Yehudi is the Hebraïc and Arabic synonym to the Euro/US word Jew. Thus, when you want to say something negative in Arabic, to curse someone, you just say "yehoudi", in about the same way people say "fuck" in America or "bloody" in UK. Not clear yet ? If you said "Emile", I'd retort "Yehoudi!"
You may confuse the reading ability that most Jews don't have with the word "ivri", often spelled "evgee" which applies to all cases: the language, Ivrit; the origin: Hebraic; and a family name just like in Sphardi from Spain, or Françaoui from France; which btw, tells you wonder about the geographical roots of the Jews, as seen by the Arabs!
Now, you can't say that I am a "humanist one day, a Jew the next and an Israeli the following" I am a good humanist every day and a rather bad Jew every other day at least: see I never entered a synagogue in my life, while I visited quite a few cathedrals and even some mosques.
What is there to do in a synagogue anyway ? Pray Allah, that Jewish hoax...? |
