US's Israel. In Europe US forces used castles as HQ during WWII. In Iraq the first images we saw was the forces entering Saddam's palaces. That because the military wanted a nice places to stay. Without them -since Saddam emptied his palaces before leaving- the forces occupied schools. The students want the classes to re-start. The forces didn't want to go to live in tents. So they killed 15 students and wounded 50 because they wanted their school back and wanted the classes to re-start.

If this will win the hearts and minds of the Iraqis is still to be seen.
