I don't disagree with you. But I also note that we have only the one person's report of the incident. I am always cautious about people reporting on their own how badly they have been treated by public officials. They may, of course, be totally right. But even from what he posted I can imagine him being a real pain in the ass from the first moment, whining even while the police were trying to check the building for dangers and potential people with weapons. If the guy had been being an asshole from moment one, I can imagine the cops, being human, reacting with sarcasm. True, they should be professional even if the citizens are being assholes. But for what they're paid, and the stresses of entering a building where they may have been given a tip that armed people were hiding, or suicide bomb vests were hidden, or whatever -- we have no idea what they thought they knew about this building -- I am willing to cut them a bit of slack.

I'm not justifying them. But I'm saying that nor am I prepared to judge them on the basis of one clearly biased report of the incident until I have more information about what really went on in that restaurant.

And as to the idea put forward here that this represents an excuse to barge into any restaurant in the country at whim, that's obviously ludicruous. This was not a team of cops randomly strolling the street and saying "oh, let's go bust into that restaurant over there." I assume that they had some sort of information that they believed was reliable that ther was something illegal and possibly dangerous going on in there.
