So you found a reviewer who disagrees with Alterman's thesis, Bill. Not hard to do. The point of the book is to put a different set of arguments in play about politics and the media. It goes without saying that some will disagree with that argument. They should. And, sadly, one form of disagreement these days is to find some minuscule detail, one largely irrelevant to the central argument, that they can argue is wrong. Thus, they then argue, the entire argument is wrong.

I'm not posting Alterman to defend his argument. Bill, obviously, didn't start the thread for us to have a heated argument about the media. I only posted it to show there are other arguments out there about media bias.

I happen to agree more with Alterman than I disagree. But, again, that's sort of stating starting points for the "pragmatic" analysis bit rather than proposing things for debate.
