IMHO the proposal to include Russia in the alliance with France and Germany is as close as it gets to be short of declaring hostile policies toward the US

"Hostile" may be too strong a word. "Antogonistic?" Yes. I look on the proposed threesome of France, Germany, and Belgium, as "The Mice that Roared." Adding Russia looks fearsome, but not Militarily. The Russian Army can't get out of their own way these days.

And if France and Germany move toward cuddling up with the Bear, how are the Eastern European countries, who are trying to cuddle up to the EU, going to react?

The Admin has made some noises about world wide free trade. I would like to see them make the offer, country by country. You open to us, we open to you. No restrictions. It would be hard for the protectionists here to fight. And it would knock all of these regional alliances in a cocked hat, IMO.
