Criimi Mae is an interesting play--BUT it's also an oddball in the REIT's.
My memory may be playing tricks on me but I seem to recall that they
invest in distressed properties. I don't know if you'd call them
vultures. Their expertise is in turning these situations around. I
don't know of any other reit that does what they do. And because they are
so unique, I'd think twice about having them as a central part of an
investment portfolio. They might make a nice complement to other
investments, though.
