Mohan, I nearly always place limit orders, and I rarely use all or none. What I have found is, even though the orders I place for my own portfolio are a small percentage of what I used to place for the portfolios I managed, the floor is often just too small at any given price. Market makers and specialists won't admit it, but they like to "run" an order up or down. But I usually place my orders at the bid to sell or the offer to buy, as I have not been lucky, as an individual, getting in between those numbers. MB
