How Ironic for Jahangir Amuzegar to be on the IMF Executive Board. If I am not mistaken, he is the son of Jamshid Amuzegar who was the Iranian Oil minister during Shah. Having a reputation for a well respected neutral reformer, Shah made him Prime Minister to stop the revolution on its track. In its very early days, the Islamic revolution started as public sector strikes for better pay and minor social reforms. Amuzegar was fairly successful, but the Islamists enacted a most horrible terrorist crime and blamed it on the government. As a result the prime minister resigned and the revolution gathered steam. And now his son advises IMF on how to deal with the mullahs...we live in unique times.

thanks for a good article,
