And why did you not warn us of your unsure thoughts when you did post it and use it to support your position?
Surely you understand that, when you post an article from an organization that you do not believe in to bolster an argument you want to make, it affects the credibility and validity of any position you may take.
Since you do not believe in and now question the validity of your own posts and arguments...why should I continue to bother to read them?
And for the record...I had previously informed you that I no longer cared to discuss this issue with you as I found your previous arguments just as invalid...expecially since you apparently assign no value to the fact that America conducted a massive nation-wide drill in 1954 (one year before Wayne made that film.)to inform the citizenry of the hazards and appropriate actions to take with regards to the nuclear threat and the dangers of fallout. That drill included all radio and TV stations, schools, businesses and local authorities. That nation-wide drill occurred in 1954, the heart of the time where you continue to argue America took no action to inform the public of the danger.

This thread began when you accused America of taking no action in the 50s to inform the people of the nuclear hazard. You apparently did not know about the 1954 country-wide drill or the fact that President Truman founded the National Civil Defense Agency in 1950 to teach and prepare all Americans to defend themselves against all threats including nuclear. Throughout the 50s, this agency provided instructions to Americans in many new (at the time)ways...using all media outlets extensively. They trained response teams in every state and major city. even mailed action brochures to every home. And they conducted the 1954 drill.
The evidence countering your claim of no action is overwhelming.
In your continuing criticism, Who are you measuring America against? I know of no other government that ever went to such great lengths to inform its people of the hazards of a nuclear explosion and fallout, and to provide them with appropriate survival measures. I know of no other government that did any at all in the 50s. The period when you accuse us of doing nothing, we were the only country taking action.
ST, I am an American. I know what is going on here now, and I know the history. This is my country and I love it.
I am not going to stand around with my hands in my pockets and watch you or others use invalid arguments in an attempt to shoot America down.
And please do not use any more Hollywood actors actors as support. Many Hollywood personalities have a long record of stupidity. They have a long record of doing unhealthy things in the face of overwhelming evidence suggesting their behavior could be deadly. John Wayne is a member of the group I am describing.
John Wayne's lung cancer was attributed to a life-time of smoking high tar and nicotine cigarettes. He continued to smoke after the diagnosis. He also drank copious quantities of whisky (another carcinogen) everyday. Real smart guy, huh???
Wayne would make an excellent cancer poster child, except his was all a self-inflicted wound. Like the article you posted, he is a lousy example for your cancer argument.
Like the article, I consider using Wayne as evidence of the government withholding information pure rubbish. I do not wish to continue this conversation.
