According to the US Forces 3400 soldiers and their families will move to Grafenwöhr. They come from Hessen bases Giessen and Friedberg which will be closed until 2008. Grafenwöhr is already the biggest US training site in Europe. Now Americans are planning to invest $600 million for a new settlement. The US Army mainly wants to save costs by the move. 23:00 Uhr, 30. April 2003 US-Armee baut Standort Grafenwöhr aus Washington/ Grafenwöhr: Die amerikanische Armee verstärkt ihren Standort Grafenwöhr in der Oberpfalz. Nach Angaben der US-Streitkräfte werden 3400 Soldaten und deren Angehörige nach Grafenwöhr verlegt. Sie kommen aus hessischen Stützpunkten Giessen und Friedberg in Hessen, die bis 2008 geschlossen werden sollen. Grafenwöhr ist bereits jetzt der größte amerikanische Truppenübungsplatz in Europa. Jetzt wollen die Amerikaner hier 600 Millionen Dollar in den Bau einer neuen Siedlung insvestieren. Die US-Armee will mit der Truppenverlegung vor allem Kosten sparen.
