Sar Wars. The USA is dozing on the job, thinking they did a good job against Islamic Jihad, [which they did], but ignoring Sars Jihad.
Sars is cunning. It's first getting a good grip on China, which some might think is not too bad because China is a strategic competitor and Americans aren't Chinese.
But then, it'll get a grip elsewhere too.
You know the old story, first sars came for the commies, but we aren't commies, so that was okay. Then they came for the Chinese, but they were the bad guys.
Once China is entrenched with it, I have no idea how the USA will prevent Sars continously crossing the border. Even without Sars crossing the border, it won't be good for the USA if China economically crumbles.
In case people haven't noticed, China is quite an economic crutch for the USA.
It's a small world after all. It's US vs NATURE and nature includes Sars. US is us, as in we, not the USA. It's literally a fight to the death.
Here's my handy-dandy graph, for ease of reference. Deaths for the week. x = 10 deaths. z = early days, fewer than 10 per week. 26 Feb z ..5 Mar z 12 Mar z 19 Mar z 26 Mar x ...2 Apr xxx ...9 Apr xxxxx .16 Apr xxxxxx .23 Apr xxxxxxxxx .30 Apr xxxxxxxxxxxx [120 actual]
Those who think 120 people dead this week isn't many [heck, look how many died of malaria, they might think], should understand that rapidly growing things like this need to be considered as though there were a few zeroes on the end, because unless there's a reason for the growth to slow, a few zeroes is what we'll get.
When there are a few zeroes, it'll be impossible to stop without a vaccine and major economic disruption.
