UW, stop nit picking. Very well, I should have said I am unsure of every bit of what the article said. Do you dispute this part?
RADIOACTIVE fallout from nuclear weapons tests caused at least 15,000 fatal cancers in America in the past half century, according to reports of a government study...The newspaper USA Today reported that it had seen portions of the study, the government’s first effort to assess the effects of nuclear detonations on the entire country.
I didn't question that. I did consider that it is possible 80,000 number was an exaggeration based on the political motives of the group behind it. But I am in no position to prove or disprove it and neither are you. It was obvious enough, imo, that I did not need to warn anybody about it.
The part that I thought had the least effect on the content of the article was the part on John Wayne. But guess, now I am beginning to lean that way, if this is true "Hack said almost 80 percent of the cast and crew died of cancer, including Wayne, Susan Hayward, Agnes Moorehead and Pedro Armendariz, as well as director Dick Powell". 80% of cast and crew is a very large percentage.
When an article is posted, it means the person posting it thinks it is of value and is on the right track. It does not mean that he has independently verified every claim in there or agrees with everything said. So get off your high horse and stop lecturing.
As to the rest of your rant, did you bother reading the discussion between Michael and I? It seems I am not the only one who has seen the same film footage. May be you should educate yourself more.
And stop portraying me as anti-American. If you had bothered to read the whole discussion, you would see that I thought it possible the misinformation given to the public could have been the results of genuine lack of knowledge in the government. Personally I find that hard to believe. But just the same I did not go on some anti-gov anti-American rant.
You on the other hand, have not provided a single shred of evidence to counter my argument. Yet you see yourself high and mighty as defender of America. Exactly which America are you defending? As far as I am concerned, when it comes to choosing between defending Americans and defending the government, there should not even be a hesitation on which is right. Tell me something, do you thing the government conducted dangerous experiments on the Americans without their consent or not? And if yes, why is it so hard to believe they did not divulge all the dangers of radiation to the public?
