I didn't find anything in Vitas' post untrue Possibly because you came late to the exchange. I had two objections to Vitas' statements: (1) He confuses "opinion" with "fact": Dr. Blix' FINDINGS OF FACT: "Blix Says No Iraqi 'Fundamental Decision' to Disarm" Message 18897253 Here's my reply pointing out the difference: siliconinvestor.com (2) He refuses to accept that UN did not side with the US in its invasion of Iraq. Message 18902230 My initial comment was not on this point, but this is pretty comical, too :-) he was using a statement by a UN employee to support an opinion. Is this wrong? No, definitely not. What is wrong is that he was presenting it as FACT. I pointed out that it was an opinion. See (1) above. I feel it is very bizarre to try to use a UN Sec. Council resolution as justification for the invasion of Iraq when that very Council does not believe it is any such justification. If you have watched Powell's presentation, you cannot have missed the comments in the Sec. Council to the effect of "No invasion, continue with inspections".
