Robert,

This country runs on innovation, produces a new idea and then out sources the manufacturing to cheaper economic models. This has happened countless number of times and in a numerous industries. Computers and their software are just another cycle.

The next major innovation for computing will be found with Organic Processes.... that have very little electrical components..., run on wireless networks..., and run on solar or hydrogen cells that can be renewed.
Biotechnology and Bioinfomatics will play a part.

What we've known for the last 20 years in computers is slowly on the way out.
Next big wave of investment returns are in the small companies with break through technology out of places like MIT and in the very early development stages.
