Laisez faire did not work. We need a solution. Again, easy to criticize.

I agree that it hurts financially and I wish we could have an open world. Yet our borders are still easier to penetrate than most European borders, except for the tiny nations.

There is no comparable nation of geographic size that allows as much freedom in entrance as US, despite the problems you raise.
