SARS... Also important is the fact that early sufferers include disproportionate numbers who are immuno-compromised in some way, such as children, the elderly, and those with other respiratory issues.

Actually I've heard the opposite. That many of those who died were in their 20's and 30's and apparently very healthy before catching SARs.

Many of the people who died were health care workers that were exposed to SARS via their work in treating infected patients. This includes the doctor that first identified the SARS virus.
