Never heard a bad word spoken of English but then it was never part of any subjects in the first place.


I had a grandfather who was born in County Cork and married an English Girl in Montreal in 1900. His Mother-in-Law would get on him about the superiority of the English, and he would finally say, "Ireland was Ireland when England was a pup, and Ireland will be Ireland when England is done up!" and stalk out of the house for a beer.
