The current pace of expansion is miniscule, but I agree it is an issue.

And who can? Nobody I suspect. How long do you think Abbas is going to last with Arafat circumventing his efforts at every turn.

They can't go far and it has to be negotiated and not done unilaterally as you suggest bcause it will never be enough. Both sides have to agree where the lines are drawn, not just Israel.

Which they had in in sights in the early 80s, but lost to the pursuit of terror and the destruction of Israel. So much for isolating the extremists who took advantage of the liberally open borders, which benefitted the many Palestinians with jobs inside Israel, between the occupied territories and Israel.
