RE: "Taba"

The progress made was ended by Bush's lack of interest and the Pals decision to change to a "Lebanon strategy".

RE: "I cannot agree with you that Israel should be able to control just how autonomous & sovereign a Palestinian state will be..."

The formula is "land for peace". Peace is intangible and it has value if there is trust. There is no trust, now. The process requires that the Pals get land with limitations and the limitations decrease as trust increases. The limitations are with respect to the size, autonomy, and sovereignty of the land. Of course Israel has control. Israel is the party the Pals must make peace with to get land. Israel is the party that must trust the Pals and the other Arab "neighbors."

Your agreement is not part of the dynamics unless "zonder" is the pen name of Bush or Sharon.

I think that Pals should have a country if they can be trusted. I don't trust them, now. They and their Arrab friends will need to stop violence and incitement and will need to accept less than they want until they can develop some real credibiity.
