I have no idea who you are but you certainly skew the world. Your version of fact from which the Dems are retreatingis one of the strangest I've yet seen.

Oh no, Byrd's statement was more egregious. Byrd's overall
record coupled with his outrageous public statement pales
in comparison to Lott's birthday party compliment & Lott's
overall record.

Well, short of the hyperbole you employ, you are certainly welcome to your opinion. Go for it.

Lott paid a dear price. Byrd's horrific comments were
hardly challenged & consistently defended by the left.

How about some evidence that "the left" defended Byrd's statement.

They do however, consistently
hype, overstate, take out of context, then extract a pound
of flesh any perceived misdeed by a republican, regardless
of the facts.

Whoosh, there went reality. I gather you think that without the forceful and widely circulated criticisms of Lott by the Dems he would still be majority leader. If so, I've got a very small secret for you, one that you best not share with a wider audience so it should be whispered, it was Lott's buddies in the Rep party that did him in. Some are at the NRO, some at The Weekly Standard, some in Karl Rove's office in the White House, some in the more extremely conservative corners of the Senate. He was, in fact, actually done in because he compromised with the Dems too much. His comments just offered an occasion to drop the axe.
