Case in point.

802.11 playtime.

Are 802.11 and the various added standards just playthings. Just check the daily logs of local network administrators. How many specialist firms that are building home networks encountering the request for wireless systems? These small 3 to 25 pc networks are using which technologies to cross connect? Is a DS-3 equivalent of connectivity becoming the standard using wireless network buildout? Does anyone expect 100 meg traffic or know the difference from 54 meg or 11 meg or 2? At what point do they notice?

What distance is becoming standard for broadcast of LAN's? Inside one building or inside one and out and across to another? And then inside to another network? Are multiple routed networks popping up? WAN to LAN to WAN to LAN?

All of these answers are critical to seeing the future of connectivity.

How many of these pc's are performing server functions and how many of these are accessed remotely? What remote access system or program is being used. VPN? PC Anywhere? Hardware. Price? Performance? Ease of use?

How many understand how to use these networks is critical to the knowledge base used to decide future moves.

Do any users cross connect the existing standards ( 802.11a to 802.11b ) or is dual use not yet initiated? What IM programs are these users accessing and do they use the IM programs when commuting or from remote dial in connections?

Like mapping the rabbit hole.
