Just out of curiosity - what was the internal Israeli reaction to the dismantling of the Sinai settlements? ...I would imagine that the IDF had to go in in order to convince the settlers to comply?

The Israeli public was happy to give up the Sinai in exchange for peace.

The Israeli leadership was happy to give up the Sinai in exchange for taking Egypt's military out of the equation. This allowed Israel to focus its attacks on Lebanon, a relatively defenseless country.

The Israeli settlers was very unhappy, and some had to be removed forcefully.
