Poland gets Kurdistan? Wow, that is so cool! Poland's first major historical role since 1939. Minimizes the politically charged interactions between the US and the Turks, too. (Is Poland in NATO yet? Yes? Could also be a symbolic rebuke to Turkey, our erstwhile NATO "partner". If the Turks hadn't been such @holes they could have had the job.)

And the Brits get the Shia area, which makes sense, as they are already there, and we get the part that doesn't have any oil. Very smart planning on someone's part. I like it!!!!

And I like all the coalition countries contributing peace-keeping forces without going through the UN.

It's a highly symbolic gesture.

If I were the ambassador to the UN, I would argue that the success of the mission is a tribute to the ideals of the UN. To achieve peace outside the framework of the UN is a demonstration that the UN is working.

Or somesuch blather.;^)
