Good Morning Chief,

I guess I see the impact of them coming into the used market. There must be a lot of them out there as rent cars.

Any car that gets used as a rental unit (in volume) is destined to a terrible resale value.

The used car markets get flooded as the come out od service.

When the PT came out - dealers sold them for 2-4000 over MSRP.Since it was a fad car - many who tired of it underpower got there head handed to them at trade in time.

If you notice,it is all but impossible to find a cadillac in rental service.GM finally woke up and realized that if you want an image like LEXUS,INFINITY,or MERCEDES - you cant be renting them for 39.99 a day.

The PT cruiser model variations are an excellent example of product differentiation - a key to marketing as a product matures in the market.

JMHO
