When the Dems say the Repubs support the rich...Try Buffett, who is a supporter of Democrat candidates...

Good questions, Karen. My take is obviously different from others but here goes. From my own perspective, Buffett is a rich person with a social conscience. If you read his annual letter or listen to tv interviews with him, he's clearly a rich guy with a sense of social obligation. I don't know as much about Bill Gates father, but I've seen the ads his group put together and they reflect the same.

Someone from a different perspective might simply remark that Buffett has always gone his own way and does not share tax policy views with many rich folk.

As for why he doesn't want the dividend tax eliminated, my guess is that in addition to the items listed--lack of fairness and does not have the economic impact touted for it--Buffett is also focused on the deficit issue. I've seen comments from him in the past concerning the need to keep it restrained.
